We are continuing to walk in purpose by focusing on community health and bringing awareness to childhood obesity, and the many other health related diseases our families encounter.
The Houston Area Urban League, Houston City Council Member Wanda Adams, Texas Children’s Health Plan, Houston Parks and Recreations Department along with Quality Wellness have all linked up to host the Family Wellness Zone for the 3rd Annual Sunnyside Back 2 School Health Fair.
The Family Wellness Zone will consist of the Houston Area Urban League Holistic Set of Services to help families with housing issues and employment, Amerigroup, free fresh produce from the Houston Food Bank, fitness assessments and consultation from experts Gregory Fernander and Paul Queen, exhibits from the Houston Rockets and Houston Public Library, a kid’s fitness clinic by the Texans YMCA, line-dancing, Zumba and more!!!. Get tips and information about proper nutrition, mental focus and overall wellness insight from premiere health organizations and professionals. The event is scheduled for August 3, 2013 on the campus of Sunnyside Park Community Center, 3502 Bellfort, 77051 from 9am until 12pm.
We at the Quality Wellness ‘Childhood Obesity Project’ believe that as a result of a lack of proper physical education along with certain financial and familial circumstances, disadvantaged environments do not have all the resources to be inspired to participate and succeed. Thus, we seek to provide the missing resources through stimulating and enriching programs and events; ones that will sustain the interests of both young and old producing healthy thinkers to become positive change-agents in their communities.
